How To Take Good Pictures with Your Smart Phone
It is pertinent to tell you that taking good pictures is not at all difficult. Once you follow some basic rules of Photography, you can take outstanding pictures even with your smart phone. The points I am going to share in this article apply on all cameras whether you have smart phone camera, a digital point and shoot camera or an advanced DSLR or Mirrorless cameras. Basic rules apply to your perspective and not your equipment.
Photography with smart phone
Taking pictures with smart phone is easier than you think. You just have to take care of few basic tips which i am going to discuss here in this article. Photography with smart phone is easy and can be learnt with little practice.

Taking photos with smart phone
All of us are carrying a Camera all the time in our smart phones and there is actually no need to buy camera especially if you are a photography enthusiast and wants to take good pictures on the move.
Which phone takes best pictures
I agree that for practising any art form, equipment matters, but todays smart phone cameras are much more intelligent and advanced that we can imagine. So first thing to make sure is that you have a decent smart phone with at least 12 MP camera. Thats it in terms of Equipment you need.
Now you have to take good care of your equipment if you want good results. You have to take care of the lens of the camera by protecting it from all kinds of unwanted scratches which can result in poor quality pictures.
Preparing for the shoot
While taking pictures, always wipe the lens of the camera with a soft clean cotton cloth.
The next important step is to look for a good shooting location with lots of natural light if possible.
Light can be from any angle but not from behind the subject. You should always try to shoot subjects at a position where light directly falls on the subject you are shooting. This will ensure good clarity and exposure and your pictures will come out clear and attractive. Your subject will stand out in the picture and will result in perfect shot.
In some smart phone cameras, you can increase or decrease the exposure according to the light condition, but that is not always necessary.

Composition
Composition is the most important aspect while shooting pictures or even videos for that matter. You have to carefully compose the shot so that all the elements in the picture appear pleasing in the final result. For example, if you are shooting a group of people in the natural settings, you have to take care of the Background as well as the Foreground with almost equal weightage. Background may have a building or mountains or any other object, take care to include it as whole and not cutting corners or taking partially.

Similarly, things in the foreground like grass, flowers or even ground should be in proportion to the amount of background in the picture. There may be big trees or mountains in the background and small plants or lawn grass in the foreground. You have to balance the presence of both elements in the frame. Similarly, there should be a balance of portion of ground and sky in the frame you are composing.
Rule of Third in Photography
Rule of Third in Composition means divide the image into nine equal parts using a grid function on your phone camera. By placing a subject along these lines or at their four intersections (power points), you can create more balanced and visually appealing photos than with a subject right in the centre of the image.

Framing
Framing in photography refers to the process of composing a picture. It involves choosing what you want to include in the picture and what you want to exclude. A good frame should contain balanced light, a good proportion of background and foreground with subject on the right position depending upon the situation.

One should make use of the grid function in smart phones to take properly aligned pictures with appropriate positioning of the subject using the rule of thirds discussed earlier.
Focussing
Proper focussing brings about sharpness and clarity in the final image. This can be achieved by long pressing the area to be focussed on the touch screen of your smart phone. This allows sharp images and the portion on which you long pressed becomes distinct and clear.
Final Analysis
After taking the picture, check for any correction if any and take another picture if needed. You can always delete the incorrect one later.
Using Perspectives in Photography
After taking initial eye level shots, one can experiment with different angles whether low angle or high angle shots to give a different perspective to the final image.

Taking pictures of monuments or natural settings, you can always enhance the picture by including a human element to give a sense of scale and life to a scene.

Saving pictures at the right place
It is highly recommended that you save your valuable memories on your computer or hard disk at home after returning from the trip.
Sometimes due to theft or other such issues, valuable pictures are lost. In order to avoid such unwarranted situations, it is better to save the pictures on hard drives or SSDs.
